Production Manager

STATUS:  FULL-TIME 

SALARY: $40,000         

REPORTS TO:  ARTISTIC DIRECTOR 

THE OPPORTUNITY: 

This role primarily works regular office hours, while being present in person at student matinees and occasional school touring venues to support the needs of young people and teachers experiencing MTC’s programs. Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities may be connected to public performances, special events, or board meetings. Compensation is $40,000 annually, including a medical insurance plan (MTC pays 80%, employee pays 20%), dental and vision plans, and a match of up to 3% of salary towards employee contributions to a SIMPLE IRA retirement fund. MTC is committed to long-term pathways for professional growth for the entire MTC team and provides access to ongoing professional development opportunities through local and national partners for all staff. 

The intended start date for this position is June 30.  

 

BROAD FUNCTION:  

Participate as a key member of the MTC team in support of the mission and strategic plans of Metro Theater Company, working closely with Artistic Director to set specific short and long-term goals and priorities in support of the department. Work with the Artistic Producer (AP) to form a self-directed, effective and efficient team covering all aspects of production each season. Work with key staff to support scheduling and communication around programming goals across the organization. Participate in all aspects of producing with a focus on stage and production management, scheduling, smooth production communication systems, and support of production related community events.

Community Support & School Bookings Specialist

Participate as a key public-facing member of MTC’s team, supporting institutional bookings of school programs (field trips, touring productions, and education programs) and individual ticket purchases for public performances. In partnership with the marketing, development, and education teams, ensure that all patrons receive a standard of service that reflects MTC’s values of inclusion, equity, and respect.

Inspired by the poetry of Dr. Maya Angelou, this show brings to life the fears we face every day and how we combat them. Through stories told with spoken word, hip-hop, and dance, we learn that each of us inside has what it takes to face our fears. This experience will have audience members singing from their seats, “life doesn’t frighten me, I am fearless royalty.”

Rehearsals: January 5th - January 30th, 2026

Technical Rehearsals: January 26th-30th
Performances (primarily during the school day, with select evening and weekend performances): February 2nd-March 29th.

Pay Rate:
Non-Equity, $425/week

(rehearsals and performances up to 7 per week, for additional performances an additional $60 will be paid per performance)

Contracted Teaching Artist 

Position: Teaching Artist 

Reports to: Education Director 

Job Type: Part-Time 

Compensation: $20/hour for training and planning time, $50/hour for teaching 

Position Overview:   

Metro Theater Company is seeking enthusiastic, empathetic, and social justice minded teaching artists to teach our flagship education program: Building Community Through Drama (BCTD).  

BCTD is expanding into 4th and 5th grade classrooms in multiple districts throughout St. Louis County. The program consists of 5 sessions (45-60 minutes in length) in individual classrooms during the school day. The curriculum is developed and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our school partners. Through a co-teaching model, teaching artists will facilitate community building activities, theatre games, role playing activities, and lead reflection discussions. The curriculum explores social and emotional learning, develops empathy, and investigates historical and current instances of bullying and oppression.  

Building Community Through Drama is currently underwritten by St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund.
